How an app is helping Alexandria address absenteeism Alexandria City Public Schools is using an app to notify parents in the Virginia school system when their students aren’t in class.The app, called ParentSquare, sends families three notifications a day if their student is absent. 9 Salmonella cases reported from raw milk in San Diego County SAN DIEGO -- Nine people in San Diego County have fallen ill to Salmonella bacteria linked to unpasteurized or "raw" milk or milk products from a producer in Fresno, California, local health officials said.The nine cases, which started in late September, range in age from 1 to 41 years old, the County of San Diego stated on its website Friday. Three of the cases resulted in child hospitalizations.Anyone who may have recently purchased Raw Farm LLC raw milk or milk products is urged to not consume the product and discard it, the county advises. 2 people found dead in North Hollywood The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a possible murder-suicide in North Hollywood Friday evening.Police responded to the 6500 block of Riverton Avenue around 7:45 p.m. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired.Upon arrival, officers discovered a 48-year-old female victim dead from multiple gunshot wounds. A 46-year-old male was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound nearby, police said.No further information was immediately available. Garden Grove man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting underage girl A Garden Grove man was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl after contacting her through social media. According to a Garden Grove Police department news release, the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Eric Andrew Carino, requested to meet the underage victim in person to engage in sexual relations, and she initially agreed. Upon meeting, the young girl changed her mind and requested Carino take her home. Carino ignored the victim’s request and instead took her to his home and sexually assaulted her.  After assaulting her, Carino drove her back home and immediately blocked her on social media. During an investigation, the young girl was able to identify Carino as the man who sexually assaulted her. Police also linked Carino to an additional 2021 sexual assault case from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested on sexual assault charges.
